Travel-Energy-Based Timetable Optimization in Urban Subway Systems

Timetable optimization for urban subways is aimed at improving the transportation service. In congested subway systems, effects of crowding stations and inside vehicles have not been properly addressed in timetabling. Moreover, it difficult to show time values different riding conditions. this paper, we consider passenger-travel process as a physical activity expending energy formulate travel expenditure function heavily corridor. A timetable model proposed minimize total expenditure, including waiting on platform travelling vehicle. We develop heuristic generic algorithm solve problem through special binary coding method. The applied Yi-zhuang line Beijing system obtain passenger-oriented energy-minimizing timetable. Compared with using existing timetable, find 20% reduction average per passenger RMB 47,500 increase social profits result optimization.
